At the University of Washington, he met his wife of 33 years and kindred spirit, Trina Turk, in a textile science class. Jonathan and Trina migrated to Los Angeles in to pursue their stylish dreams. He was a fashion stylist for 12 years, then transitioned to freelance fashion and advertising photography. In he began to devote all of his time to their apparel company, Trina Turk.

His creativity and spirit were wild, free and spontaneous. Described by many as a powerful force of nature, his final exit was accompanied by an epic thunder and lightning storm over Los Angeles.

During visits to the resort town prior to its opening, Turk had noticed the retro building with a flat roof and lots of windows and natural light. Though it was located in a quiet and sparsely populated neighborhood, she jumped at the chance when it became available and has been part of the evolution of the Uptown Design District which is now filled with a plethora of galleries, vintage shops and restaurants.

Amy Blaisdell, spokesperson for Palm Springs described Turk as "the city's official fashion icon" who has played a tremendous role in the renaissance of Palm Springs and the now flourishing Uptown Design District. Stewart Williams designed building. As a part-time Palm Springs resident, she also owns the iconic "Ship of the Desert" home which resembles a ship lodged into the side of a mountain.

Turk embraces the idea of being associated with the idealized Palm Springs lifestyle. Who doesn't want to be sitting by a pool next to great architecture, she explained. That's where her passion is. Her brand has just thrived because of that.
